On the 12th January 1900 two existing umbrella manufacturers merged in the City of London and Grant Barnett and Co Ltd was born. The business quickly went from strength to strength opening branches all around the world including Sydney, Melbourne, Wellington, Dublin and Durban.
After weathering the storm of war, our business boomed. During the 50's and 60's we grew to supply umbrellas and parasols to all of the major high street retailers in the UK.
In the 70's and 80's we expanded our Far East manufacturing base. During the 90's we were the first company to develop and introduce the Aluminium framed compact umbrella into the UK revolutionising umbrella design.
In 2000 we celebrated our centenary and in 2003 our new Hong Kong office was opened.
